I am an Associate Professor of Spanish at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My research interests include nineteenth-century literature from Cuba and the US, Latin American literature, Hemispheric Studies, and early colonial Philippine literature. My forthcoming book, to be published by the University Press of Mississippi is entitled, Cuban Slavery Inside Out, and analyzes non-fiction texts about Cuban enslavement by authors from the island and from the US using a decolonial framework. My current project is a book-length manuscript on the representation of the Chinese in Cuban literature and in Spanish colonial discourse. This manuscript is under contract with the University Press of Florida. My publications can be viewed by clicking on "publications" in the menu to the right. Thanks for stopping by!
